"Wow" and  “In the Right Place…”

Understanding the nature and behavior of many fish has prepared Anna DeLoach to recognize unusual events as they are occurring. She and her husband Ned knew immediately when they saw two normally solitary Striated Frogfish together, that they were about to spawn. Luck, or being in the right place at the right time, plays a big part in capturing the rare images in her video, “In the Right Place...” Anna assembled “Wow”, the opener to the DVD, from video she has shot over several years of travels stretching from the Caribbean to the IndoPacific.

Anna took early retirement from her mainframe computer career to work as a researcher for New World Publications. Fifteen years ago, she started shooting underwater video to assist husband Ned in studying and documenting fish behavior for his book, Reef Fish Behavior: Florida, Bahamas, Caribbean.  Her comprehensive video footage proved indispensable for analyzing marine life behaviors detailed in the book and series of articles that she and Ned wrote for Ocean Realm and for Scuba Diving Magazine, where they were Marine Life Editors until 2009.  In 2004 Anna produced Sensational Seas, Rare Sights From the Sea as a fundraiser for REEF and in 2007 she produced another DVD for REEF: Reef Fish Identification: A Beginning Course. National Geographic, the Discovery Channel, NOAA’s Ocean Media Center and numerous national newscasts have used her video.  Anna serves on the Board of Trustees of REEF and continues to travel extensively and lead trips with husband Ned and their partner, Paul Humann. In 2008 she began posting chronicles of their travels to www.marinelifeblog.com.
