Cary
Yanny’s busy life has given her relatively little time for
one of her passions, underwater photography. A vacation for
her is an opportunity to take her camera underwater. Even
with so little time to devote to her art, a discerning eye
and skilled hand has yielded beautiful results. Her work has
given her unique opportunities such as an exploratory dive
trip to Raja Ampat, in the years when very few commercial
dive operations worked the area. Her shot, looking up under
the mangrove roots of a remote islet, served to inspire many
photographers who traveled there years later. Her Banded sea
snake portrait was published on a 2006 cover of Scuba Diver
Australasia magazine.
