"Antarctic Exploration"

In late 2008, Mary Lynn Price traveled to McMurdo Station, Antarctica as part of a National Science Foundation grant to develop short video portraits of some of the amazing women working in Antarctica.  One of the women she interviewed as part of this project was Dr. Stacy Kim, Benthic Ecologist and longtime Antarctica diver.

Stacy and her team are developing SCINI--the Submersible Capable of Under Ice Navigation and Imaging.  SCINI can be deployed beneath the ice to depths below those accessible to scuba divers, and can acquire high quality images of the marine environment at those depths.

The underwater footage in this short video about Stacy Kim and SCINI was shot by both Henry Kaiser and Mary Lynn under the ice in Antarctica.  Henry is an amazing Antarctica diver and underwater imager, himself, and was instrumental in the production of the wonderful Antarctica documentary co-produced by Werner Herzog and Henry Kaiser, "Encounters at the End of the World."

Mary Lynn Price is a video journalist and pioneering video podcaster based in La Jolla, California. Her work includes news and adventure travel videos, and exploration and historical videos for clients as diverse as news and travel organizations, art galleries, scientific and educational institutions.  Her work has appeared in nationally broadcast documentaries, award-winning news productions and educational projects.

In early 2000 Mary Lynn founded DiveFilm.com as one of the first websites dedicated to streaming underwater video on the Internet.  In 2005 she launched the first podcast of underwater video to be featured at iTunes, DiveFilm Podcast Video.  And in 2007, she launched the first High Definition podcast of underwater video to be featured at iTunes.
